You forgot to add at a reasonable price/cost
At this point that will never happen.
Ever looked at a farmers yard? After the farmer is done with something whether the preceived use is done or it's too much work to do?
I will give you the answer.

It rusts, crumbles, weeds overtake it, slowly succumbing to fate, no longer a use, we walk by it daily in shame, reminded of what it could have been.

OK Brian, Here is a question for you that maybe you can answer.. My uncle, a friend of his, and I came to Grain Valley this past week. My Uncle and his friend "Are WILLING to BUY the Track and Open it". We Spoke to Several Person's at Grain Valley City Hall (and 2 Council Person) THEY ALL SAID-- Pending Law Suit by people who live in the city about NOISE.. main part was Mr. Shrouts car race track (looks like a DUMP to me. but that seemed to be the Main Focus. we tried to reach Mr. Shrout, but only Spoke to a RUDE-CRUD lady named Cindy Jones. (She has Problems) we called 816-229-2222. My Uncle and his Friend have the Money to invest in this Track. and I KNOW they would have someone in charge of it that would "Keep it UP!!!!" Bottom line I can understand Why You Walked if you hit the wall we did..

Awkx450...I called the city the other day too. They told me the whole action is pending a "noise study" that is primarily directed at the car race track, which is clearly Dennis Shrout's main focus. Based on the results, it could be closed down, or he could be forced to build some sort of noise barrier. Don't know what that would be, but I'm sure it would be expensive. I personally think he's waiting to see what is going to happen with it all, but in the mean-time is not going to do SQUAT on the MX track.

I think we could form an organization with a group of parents (LLC) to run it, if the current owner would cooperate with leasing it at a reasonable rate.

And...I have recently started to build a little practice track, and have a new appreciation for how hard it is to maintain, especially with limitations on equipment...much less a full scale track. Anyway, my boys and I have had fun there, under both owners/operators, it's just a shame to see it like this.

the "Shrout" family ruined another track… yep Brian you are part of it, like it or not. I’m not going to question the work you put in but if you feel you know what it takes to make it work then its time to step up! You’ve put your sweat into it now put some equity in it! If the old man is done shelling it out and you think you’ve got the winning combination then throw your own money in to get it going. If Dennis won’t let you use his equipment try leasing it from him… or buy your own… or lease from someone on mostate... borrow some money if you have to… if you can’t borrow money then get creative. Try working out a split with people on here for the use of their equipment. There seems to be a lot of people on here willing to help so see what you can work out. My point is if you really think you know how to turn this around stop going to Dennis for help… just do it, there comes a time in a family business you just have to start putting your own neck on the line. (I do know a little something about family business) best of luck, Jeff

Many farmers are making money selling all that old equipment for scrap iron now. Just a thought.
