unfortunately mark most of the people that live here dont have a clue what has gone on at the track.

but, "MY FAMILY" has been blamed for the demise of one of the nicest tracks in kansas city. no doubt jonhn and jerry did a great job and i loved riding out there when they ran it. there was some very big shoes to fill!!!!

i will say i worked my butt off last year. spent alot of hours mowing, watering, in the bobcat, on the tractor, weed eating, paiting, etc last year. i did the best with what i was giving to work with. which wasnt alot. but i kept my head up and tried to provide you and the kc riders a nice place to ride.

unfortunately, i got tired of everything. so i walked. those that know me know why. brett stayed to try and make it work. and, he got even less help and support than i did. but he tried. its hard to keep a track up when you dont have the keys to anything. he stayed in it longer than i did. i gotta give him credit for that.

so, it does really irritate me when people get on here and say the "Shrout" family ruined another track. i put in alot of hard work and lots of sweat at that place. im sorry some of you feel it wasnt enough. but im not living life to make anyone happy but myself. the track was fun, but you can only hit your head against a wall so many and realize the outcome is gonna be the same everytime. when ya figure that out, ya move on........

lets hope things get fixed out there and it becomes a great place to ride again.

Good post Brian. And unlike a lot of ungrateful people out there I understand how much work a track could be. I looked into it. Some people just get so used to coming to all the tracks and just riding, dirt is nice and soft, lines work in good, and the owners work their ass off the keep the grass down, dirt tilled, jumps safe, that some forget how much work, or has no clue at all how much personal time one has to spend to keep it that way that they just look for things to complain about. In that kind of a situation one has to do there best and when those ungrateful people start to complain about any little thing, they can stand firm, keep their head up, and know they did their best. There is always going to be someone that is not happy, there is always going to be people that nit pick, and making everyone happy is. An impossible task. I enjoyed riding there last year. Had a good time. Good luck

And I could write volumes about all the challenges that go on "behind the scenes" that nobody thinks about. I apologize in advance for repeating myself, but...nobody operates a motocross facility for the financial reward. So when the fun ends - so does the track.

And it slowly fades into the sun. Hopefully that will not happen. It would be a waste a good track. All that hard work just washed down the drain.

i loved working the track. the tilling, re-racing and building jumps. that part was fun for me. i loved after sweating my butt off all morning getting the track ready for a practice and at the end of the day watching all the riders get out there and tear it up. watching them have fun and the smiles on the kids faces. i loved that part of it. all the hard work and sweat is well worth it to see the smiles and the laughs.

there was a difference of opinion on the direction the track was to go. and i am very hard headed and know what will and what wont work at a mx track. ive been in this sport for 30 years. but, when someone doesnt listen and does things anyway, well you walk.

a very smart person once told me sometimes the only way to get someone to listen is to say nothing at all.

I dont care who is at fault here, The main thing is the people are loosing a place to ride. no one has blamed you personally.
But the FACTS are here. What is the last name of the owner of the property?
Randy Mcoy and I ran lake city for Dennis the last two years it was open. I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT SUPPORT, MATERIALS, TOOLS.
Just like Tod Ruhl said "no one operates a motocross facility for financial reward"
IT'S GOT TO BE FOR THE LOVE OF THE SPORT (READ R.J. Wolberg)
I really think Dennis misses that point and some of his staff.
Now, it is easier to sit on your butt than it is to PUT OUT EFFORT
knowing full well that it truly is for the riding publuc.

Brian, I really appreciate the hard work you put into the track last year. I can remember some really great practice days last fall. This year the track has gotten progressively worse, and I realize you didn't really have any part in that. That being said, what needs to happen now to get the track back to the way it was?
